Sled Dog Running Books

If you are thinking about training your dog to pull a rig or sled then please do read up and educate yourself on the subject first. An additional good approach is to join Bulletin Boards where experienced mushers can help guide you, see if there are any mushers that run their dogs in your area where you might be able to meet up and see how they do things. Or even just go along to one of the races and speak to the people there. It is very easy to make mistakes and maybe even injury your dog if you do not learn about the equipment and skills first!

There is far more to working a dog in harness than just grabbing any old harness and getting it to pull.

A really good, enjoyable and funny book about a musher and his dogs. As much about one mans obsession as about the frozen tundra. I can't imagine there are many mushers who have not read and thoroughly enjoyed this book!
